The Girls on the Grid Line Pre-Apprenticeship Program equips participants with foundational knowledge of utility operations, safety practices, and trade readiness while building confidence, leadership, and teamwork skills essential for success in the field.
Program Objectives
Increase Awareness: Introduce participants to diverse career pathways in the utility and infrastructure trades.
Build Core Skills: Provide hands-on instruction in safety, tool use, measurement, and system fundamentals.
Develop Workforce Readiness: Strengthen employability skills such as communication, professionalism, and problem-solving.
Promote Gender Equity: Create an empowering learning environment that encourages young women to enter nontraditional fields.
Connect to Apprenticeships: Prepare graduates for direct entry or advanced standing in registered apprenticeship programs.
Participant Requirements
Eligible candidates must meet the following criteria as of January 31, 2026:
Be between the ages of 14 - 19
Be in grades 9 - 12
Have a GPA of 2.0 or Higher
Be a resident of 32206, 32208, or 32209
